By creating an account or using Editoria ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Editoria provides AI-powered manuscript editing and publishing services, including editorial editing, humanisation editing, scoring, document management, Book Bible (manuscript intelligence and continuity tracking), and Submission Toolkit (query generators, synopses, and submission tracking). The Service is provided "as is" and is intended as an editing and publishing aid — it does not guarantee publication, literary success, or any specific outcome.

You retain full ownership of your manuscript. Submitting text to Editoria does not transfer, assign, or licence any intellectual property rights to us. We claim no ownership over any content you submit, and we acquire no rights to use, reproduce, distribute, or exploit your work in any way.

The edited output produced by Editoria is also your property. We do not retain any rights over the edited version of your manuscript.

Editoria, its software, design, scoring methodology, and branding are the intellectual property of Function Labs. You may not reverse-engineer, copy, or redistribute the Service or its components.

You agree not to submit content that is unlawful, defamatory, or infringes the intellectual property of a third party. You are solely responsible for the content you submit. You must not attempt to circumvent the free chapter limit through the creation of multiple accounts.

The editing service uses large language models to process your text. While we strive for high-quality output, AI editing is not infallible. You should review all edited output before use. Editoria is not liable for any errors, omissions, or stylistic choices made by the AI that you choose to incorporate into your published work.

Editoria may use manuscript preferences selected by the user, including target reader market, preferred English style, genre, and book voice/setting, to generate AI-assisted editorial suggestions. These suggestions may include spelling, grammar, punctuation, vocabulary, structure, style, and market-specific readability recommendations. Users are responsible for reviewing all outputs and deciding whether they are appropriate for their manuscript.

Your text is processed solely to deliver the editing and publishing features you request. This can involve configured AI, hosting, storage and infrastructure service providers acting as necessary to operate the Service. We do not sell your manuscript or use it for unrelated advertising purposes.

Payment is processed securely by Stripe. You may cancel at any time and will retain access until the end of your current billing period. No refunds are issued for partial months. We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice.

Editoria offers one free chapter check without requiring payment. If you create an account after using the guest check, that migrated result counts as the account's free chapter entitlement. Creating multiple accounts or sessions to deliberately circumvent the one-free-chapter limit is a breach of these Terms.

You may request account deletion at any time. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms. Account/entity data is removed as part of the deletion process; stored manuscript files may require separate storage cleanup and are normally removed within 30 days. Records that must be retained for legal, tax or dispute purposes may be kept for the applicable retention period.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Function Labs shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding any claim.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
